Welcome To Calvary Baptist Church
Dear New Disciple Candidate:

Welcome to the Calvary Baptist Church of North Jersey at Garfield where our doors are forever open to all; and our hearts are never shut to anyone seeking to find a safe haven for spiritual life, growth and fellowship.

What guests usually notice first about Calvary is the tender presence of God in our worship gatherings. These times are marked with joyful worship, warm fellowship and relevant teachings from His Word - a combination that touches the heart and lifts the soul.

From The Pastor's Pen....

October 26, 2014

Through the years, we've determined, here at Calvary, to be a people who are taught in, by, and according to God's Word, and prayerfully growing in grace as a result thereof. Our determination is matched only by our zeal to teach and grow others to become a people of God by faith, as we've become.

In the course of our being, by God's grace, men and women of faith; maturity has to be the hallmark of our being......

Having grown in God's grace; having grown in God's love; having grown as brothers and sisters in our Christian walk; having grown in fellowship; having grown on one another; having grown in the "nurture and admonition of the Lord;" all must be evident in our family setting as Calvary Baptist Church of North Jersey at Garfield.

So; on this day as we celebrate our being who and what we are through demonstrations; even through the sharing of the messages by Gina L. McKinney, John E. Silver and Kirk A. Johnson; may our maturity shine as a reality, here at Calvary, from this day even forever more......

With prayerful determination, I am......

Pastor McKinney

Why Do I Tithe
  1. I tithe because the tithe is holy unto the Lord. (Lev.27:30)
  2. I tithe because God commands His people to do so. And I want to be obedient to God. (Deut. 14:22)
  3. I tithe because tithing makes me conscious of my partnership with God. God furnishes the natural resources and even creates the energy within me by which natural resources are transacted into wealth. (Deut. 8:17 & 18)
  4. I tithe because I do not want to be a robber of God. Yet ye say wherein have we robbed Thee? In tithes and offering. (Mal 3:18)
  5. I tithe because God is a good collector. If I refuse to pay my Tithes voluntary, I will give it up one way or another. (Joel 1:4)
  6. I tithe because it is a debt which every man or woman owes to God. (II Kings 4:7) God is first creditor and our debt to Him should we pay first. (Exodus 23:19)
Mortgage Fund Sunday

The first Sunday in each month has been designated “Mortgage Fund Sunday.”

As God has blessed us to erect this edifice for His glory and honor, the challenges of our mortgages and maintenance are ever before us!

As we seek to lead you, as “stewards”, to a dedicated commitment to “tithe” and “offerings, these times in which we live demand that we appeal to you, in addition, to make a special sacrifice! So; on the first Sunday of each month we are appealing to every member of the Calvary Church Family to join us in committing yourself to give a special sacrifice gift to the “Mortgage Fund” to help with our mortgages and the regular maintenance on our building. Each Lord's Day in the worship hour,
My heart is filled with words of praise.
I ask forgiveness for my sins
And thank God for His wondrous ways.

Bring A Friend Sunday

BringAFriend_PhotoEvery 2nd Sunday of each month is "Bring A Friend Sunday" at Calvary. We at Calvary are striving to become a "Contagiouis Congregation". We ask our members to invite a friend, guest or family member that does not currently have a church home, to come worship with us and celebrate the goodness of the Lord !!!!! We prepare a welcome breakfast for our guests, which is served after our first morning worship service. As we break bread together we hope this gives our guests the opportunity to get to know who we are and who we are serving.

Respect the Sanctuary – It is a Holy Place

My house shall be called a house of prayer – Respect our Worship Celebration

Respect our Facility
Christians who are bonded together by Christ’s own love, long to share the deepest, richest fellowship on earth. We are “growing” to bear one another’s burdens, to exhort each other and even, when necessary, to “rebuke” one another in love.

“A Contagious Congregation”  Matthew 28 19-20

Precious Memories

When you came to us, we were unsure,
With all of our needs, would you endure?
There had been times you wanted to quit.
But the Lord said "No, stick around a bit."

That bit of time; well it came and went,
Because we needed a pastor, you were sent.
We have been through good times and bad,
But you stuck around and that makes us glad.

We share 42 years of wonderful memories here,
And all of them in our hearts, we hold dear,
You have been our pastor, our guide, and comforter,
You have been here, steadfast and unmovable.

It has been 42 years of ups and downs,
Thank you Pastor for preaching God's word,
And we ask the Lord to surround you with loving care,
To help you with the burdens you must bear.

Now, may the Lord be with you all of your days
And continue to use you as you give Him praise.
Our daily prayers include you and yours,
And we give thanks to God for keeping you each and every day!

Food For Thought

What If,
GOD couldn't take time to bless us today because we couldn't take the time to thank HIM yesterday?

What If,
GOD decided to stop leading us tomorrow because we didn't follow HIM today?

What If,
We never saw another flower bloom because we grumbled when GOD sent the rain?

What If,
GOD didn't walk with us today because we failed to recognize it as His day?

What If,
God took away his message because we failed to listen to his messenger?

What If,|
GOD didn't send his only begotten Son because he wanted us to be prepared to pay the price for sin?

What If,
The door to the Church was closed because we did not open the door of our heart?

What If,
GOD answered our prayers the way we answer His call to service?

What If,
GOD met our needs the way we give Him our lives???
